| WEBSITE UPDATES Hello all, The site has gone through a few updates recently with the addition of a CHAT FORUM to replace the spam filled guestbook and a move to FLASH as the standard video format (on the marlon site too), just to prove we do listen to all of you out there complaining about not being able to view the video content! hopefully everyone can see the vids ok now - any problems then post me a reply in the forum and I will look into it. While you're at it give us some feedback on the site, what we could do to improve it or what we could add (to all you female Marlon fans out there, naked pics of marlon will not be considered, although pingo is willing to strut his stuff in the nuddy for your viewing pleasure). | surf N yoga Half way through may already. It’s been a while since we dropped some news. Things have been on fire at the surf experience. Great weather good waves and lots of yoga!. Our second yoga N surf retreat was a great success. A group of 12 very keen yoga enthusiasts came, sampled the peaceful stress free environment of the surf experience, and discovered new ways of focusing the mind and the body. Many of the girls had never surfed before they arrived but most are now addicted. There truly seems to be a close link between yoga and surfing, concentrating on form, controlling the body, balance and conditioning both physical and mental. It was amazing to see how fast the girls were progressing! Check out the new video in the gallery. Well done girls we hope to see you all soon! We are happy to announce there will be another yoga N surf week later in the year. Starting on the 7th until the 21st of October. We have had some inquiries already so if you are interested please contact us as soon as possible as we expect to run out of places fast. In other news, one of our resident surf coaches Jamie has just finished a 3-month intensive massage therapy course. Integrative bodywork is more then just a massage mental physical and emotional states are all addressed, it needs to be experienced to be believed. Jamie is now back full time working as a surf coach with us again and is available for hire if you need some soothing. One of the families, Melvin has just returned from an awesome surf trip in Iceland. Hard to believe how beautiful this country is and how good the waves get. Thick wet suit with boots gloves and a hood not what we are used to in Portugal.. Watch this space for a full report from Melvin with photographs to prove it! Wow so much going on at the moment I could go on forever. Why don’t you come and see for your self. We are getting booked up for summer already so drop us a line and reserve you place soon. | YOGA N SURF Hey surfers. The 2006 Sri Lanka surf trip video and pictures are now on the site, check em out. For you guys that came with us I hope you enjoy the video and thanx again for making it such a cool trip. Anyone interested in coming next year, drop us a line for info. We are happy to tell you about the surf/yoga retreat that we have planned for the coming months. Check out the gallery for pictures of last year. If yoga is your thing then this could be your dream trip! Start the day with some light stretching and mental calming in the beautiful garden, then off to the beach for a day of surfing. Round the day off with another session of yoga before dinner, WOW. Your instructor is a well-experienced professional from Hawaii who is no stranger to the beach or the work matt. The combination of surfing, hanging out and yoga is a perfect mixture, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful southwest coast of Portugal . MIND BODY AND SOLE . | WELLCOME TO 2007 Hi everyone happy New Year! The start of 07 and already the swell is pumping. Good uncrowded waves and some very nice sunny days spent on the beach. Don’t take our word for it, have a look at the new winter surf video in our video gallery. The surf experience is back to business for the New Year. Matt is back from Sri Lanka with another successful trip now under the belt. An awesome time was had by all, check out the new Sri Lanka video and info page (coming soon!). Some good news regarding Pingo and Marlon, both now recovered from injuries and back in the water. Marlon will be competing in Brazil in his first competition of 07, good luck Marlon! Check out his web site for video of him and his training partner, (brother Melvin), catching some beautiful waves here in the Algarve over the past few weeks, the old magic is still there. Life is good in Portugal right now, not many people at the beach a slow mellow vibe is in the air. Good waves and empty line-ups. Come and hang out, its never to early for a surf trip. Recharge the batteries before the year starts. Get that spring in your step that only surfing can provide and ride the rest of the year hanging ten! | PINGO OUT OF WORLD TITILE RACE The Surf Experience is sad to inform you that Pingo will not be fit to surf in next seasons WQS events. Sadly, due to a broken leg, which he suffered from tow in surfing while training at Mavericks, Pingo will be out of the water for most of next year. Plans have already been made for his rehabilitation and hopefully we will see a complete recovery and return to competition form as soon as possible. Pingo is obviously very sad to be out of the water but is staying positive and hopeful that he will return stronger and capitalize on the strong points lead that he has accumulated this far. Long term competitive rival and house mate, Marlon Lipke, who is also recovering from shoulder surgery, has expressed his sympathy and hopes to see Pingo back on tour soon. | MERRY CHRISTMAS So another year is almost over! Wow it goes fast. The surf experience had a great time in 2006 and we hope every one that stayed with us enjoyed it as much as we did. Special thanks goes out to all the guys and girls who worked with us this year in the kitchen on the beach and at the airport. You know who you are, well done everyone. We hope to see some of you next year. Awesome waves have graced us at some time almost every month the whole year and until now, not one flat day. Check out the videos of some fun sessions especially the new autumn clip, the super bank was on fire. The Sri Lanka surf experience trip is now underway. We will be back in the middle of December and will be open and taking bookings for then so drop us a line if you feel like a surfing Christmas in Portugal. Until then, the surf experience wish you all a merry Christmas.. We look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones next year.
